Curriculum Sessions

Barnsley F.C's Community Sports & Education Trust's extensive in-school programme works in partnership with approximately 25 primary schools within Barnsley and the Dearne each year.

Around 7000 children benefit from fun coaching sessions delivered by FA qualified staff. The coaches are qualified to deliver football sessions in curriculum time that compliment the PE syllabus as Key Stage 1 and 2.

With health high upon the Governemnt's agenda, these school activities are invaluable as they provide an opportunity for all youngsters, whatever their abilities, to enjoy exercise based activities in addition to their existing timetable. The positive outcomes are that the children will have the additional means to improve fitness, learn new disciplines and understand the importance of exercise.

They will experience the benefits of participation in team sports and develop new skills which are transferable to their recreational activities with their peers or indeed their families. The sessions enable teachers to have PPA or alternatively, for those who want to be involved, it provides the opportunity for them to gain knowledge of new ideas and approaches.

These sessions are often supported by Barnsley players which provides added enjoyment for the children taking part.
